CUSTOMERS of Ikea in Birstall have raised more than £24,500 as part of the firm’s Soft Toys for Education campaign.
For every soft toy bought as part of the campaign between October 27, 2014, and January 3, 2015, the Ikea Foundation donated €1 to educational projects run by Save the Children and Unicef, raising €32,000.
The projects train teachers, provide educational materials and increase school attendance in some of the world’s poorest communities.
The money raised by Ikea customers will help Unicef fund the Schools for Africa scheme in eight countries and the Schools for Asia project in China.
