AN AWARD-winning brass band from Queensbury has been given £1,000 from a local recycling company.
The Leo Group, which runs Omega Proteins in Denholme, has supported the Black Dyke Band’s fundraising appeal to fly its 39 members to Freiburg, Germany, to enter the European Brass Band Championships 2015 – a competition the band has won a record 12 times.
The band is needs money to cover travel and hotel costs so it can enter the event in May.
The Black Dyke Band’s Paul Billing said: “We are very grateful to locally based Leo Group for supporting our fundraising efforts for the band’s trip to the 2015 European Brass Band Championships in Germany.”
A spokesman for Leo Group said: “Leo Group is committed to helping the local community through our Community Fund.
“We are delighted to support such a good cause that is right on our doorstep here in Queensbury. We wish the Black Dyke Band every success and everyone at Leo Group will be rooting for them at the European Brass Band Championships 2015.”
