WEST Yorkshire road safety charity Brake has praised police for their efforts to catch drink and drug-drivers over Christmas but has expressed concern that lives are still being put at risk.
Breath tests were down to 133,996 but there was a higher rate of drivers testing positive, with 5,885 failing, according to official police figures.
Brake is warning there is still a long way to go to stamp out the menace of drink and drug-driving throughout the year. The charity is renewing its calls for a zero-tolerance drink-drive limit of 20mg per 100ml blood.
