POLICE started an investigation after the body of a man was discovered in a field near the River Aire.
Police officers and paramedics were called to the land, near Bridge Farm off Keighley Road, Silsden, at 6.50am yesterday. The area was cordoned off while officers investigated.
Detective chief inspector Steve Snow, of the Homicide and Major Enquiries Team, said: “Police were called to Silsden to reports of a body in a field, close to Bridge Farm on the A6034. Officers attended and discovered the body of a man, believed to be in his forties.
“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances at this time. Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information is asked to call Bradford District CID on 101.”
Silsden resident Ken Henderson saw the heavy police presence as he travelled to Steeton and Silsden Railway Station.
He said: “It is not something you see every day in Silsden.”
