FISH and chips are a national institution and Bradford district businesses have proved they are upholding the finest quality for the traditional take-away.
The National Fish & Chip Awards were held at the Lancaster London Hotel yesterday and Towngate Fisheries in High Street, Idle, scooped the national Healthy Eating Fish and Chips award.
The business also boasts of its sustainability credentials, sourcing its haddock only from Icelandic trawlers which operate where fish stocks are managed and displaying the name of the trawler responsible for the catch being served that day.
That success was backed up by the Old Time Fisheries, in Devonshire Street, Keighley, which took a finalists’ place in the best newcomer award.
Bradford-based supermarket giant Morrisons also earned a runner’s up place in the Best Multiple Foodservice Operator Award.
