A BRADFORD man who now teaches English in Madrid, Spain, will host a fundraising day in memory of those who died in the Valley Parade fire.
Bantams fan Thomas Slack is planning a non-uniform day where pupils wear Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid shirts, and a staff versus pupils football match.
He hopes to raise about €500 for the Bradford Burns Unit, which was set up in the aftermath of the fire.
Mr Slack said he would also be hosting an assembly for pupils to educate them on the events and consequences of that day in May 1985.
The 30-year-old, of Eccleshill, moved to the Spanish capital in August 2013 after teaching in Manchester for four years.
Born and raised in Bradford, he went to St Bede’s Grammar School, regularly attending City games with his grandad, dad, brothers, cousins and friends.
