AN INDEPENDENT cinema due to open in Bradford city centre this spring will not now be going ahead.
The Working Title Cinema in North Parade was given planning permission in December, but the project has fallen through as the developer and building owner could not reach agreement.
The businessman behind the plan said a lot of time and money had gone into the project, which he is still committed to bringing to the city centre.
“It is with great sadness that we have to report that we will be unable to continue with our plan to open Working Title Cinema in 57/63 North Parade this spring,” said Roy Davison.
“After long and protracted negotiations with the landlord, we could not reach a reasonable agreement and had to take the difficult decision to withdraw from using this venue.
“This is very frustrating and extremely disappointing, given the vast amount of time, effort and money we have invested to reach the stage where we were about to begin the building work.
“We would like to thank everybody who has got behind this project, particularly Bradford Council, who had made available significant financial support.”
