POLICE have issued a winter warning to quad bike owners after seizing a machine which had been used following recent snowfalls.
They were called to Flockton Road in East Bowling on Sunday afternoon because of complaints of anti-social use of a quad on streets and pavements after snowfall.
It was located just off Paley Road with three mud-splattered youths trying to start it. Police found it was in a dangerous condition and seized it to prevent harm.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “When the snow falls, some quad owners seem to think it is the ideal time to get their machines out and take them for a spin. However, if they are unregistered or uninsured and used on public roads or areas then it is illegal to do so. The temptation to go out and have some fun can have serious repercussion – often putting safety at risk. Please use them responsibly in locations where you have permission to do so lawfully, and without causing noise or nuisance.”
