A CHILDREN’S charity is looking for people in Bradford to take part in a mammoth fundraising challenge.
‘Chasing the Sun’ involves a bike, hike and canoe in the Lake District, all between sunrise and sunset on May 30.
The challenge starts at the crack of dawn with mountain biking, as participants tackle a 25-mile route in the Grizedale Forest, before they take to the water for a three-mile kayak on Coniston Water.
The final challenge is a nine-mile trek up and back down the 803-metre peak of Old Man of Coniston.
Wendy Bates, NSPCC community fundraising manager for Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “This is an exciting event in some of the most picturesque surroundings in the UK. It’s quite different from other fundraising activities as it offers a chance to take part in a variety of activities which I hope will appeal to a range of people. Hiking, kayaking and cycling are some of the best ways to explore the Lake District.”
