CENTENARIAN Emily Mortimer marked her milestone birthday on Saturday with a party, joined by her family and residents at Hazel Bank Nursing Home in Daisy Bank Lane, Bradford.
Her day of celebrations included a musical performance and she was also handed a traditional telegram from the Queen during the festivities.
Mrs Mortimer was born in Wibsey Bank and also lived in Clayton. She became a resident at Hazel Bank Nursing Home in March 2009.
She worked at a number of mills in Bradford, and for firms such as Hill Brothers and Jennings in Little Germany.
She has a son Barry, 72, who lives in Thornton, two grandchildren, Beverley, 48, and Andrew, 46, five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Her husband Charles died in 1988.
Marleen Leek, activity co-ordinator at Hazel Bank Nursing Home, said: “She is a lovely person. She gets on well with everybody. Her eyes light up when she sees a man.”
