A FORMER teacher at Holy Family in Keighley has returned to the school where she was a pupil.
Bernadette Butterfield has taken over as head of English at The Skipton Academy, where she is now working with some of the staff who taught her nearly two decades ago.
The mum-of-two, from Cross Hills, taught English at Holy Family Catholic School, but she said it had always been her desire to return to where she was a student.
“I was inspired by my own English teacher, she was brilliant, and I always wanted to be that kind of teacher,” she said. “Ultimately this school made me into the person and teacher that I am today.”
Academy principal Wendy Hamilton said: “We are delighted to welcome Bernadette to The Skipton Academy.
“I am confident she will drive up standards and see positive results in the coming weeks.”
