A SWIMMING club has been left with an uncertain future after Bradford Council pushed ahead with plans to close Bingley Pool.
Bingley is to lose its public baths as part of a £41 million Council plan to build four new pools in Bradford.
Now Bingley Swimming Club, which is based at Bingley Pool, in Myrtle Place, is having to consider its future as a group.
Acting head coach Stuart Broadbent said the news was a blow, but that the club was hoping to relocate to another pool.
He said last year the club had 180 members, making it the largest club of its kind in the district.
He said: “It is a growing club.
“But potentially in future a growing club without facilities available to them.”
Mr Broadbent said the closure would also mean the loss of the club’s popular annual Bingley Schools Gala.
He said: “If you speak to any of the schools involved, they absolutely love it – but it is in danger of disappearing because the club that is organising it will essentially not be there any more.”
