BRADFORD’S Poppy Appeal organiser Barbara Allsopp and her team are celebrating a phenomenal fundraising year.
The Bradford Central branch alone has topped £80,000 for the first time in its history and she said they are still counting the total for the district – which she anticipates will top last year’s total of £170,000.
Mrs Allsop praised the team of dedicated volunteers who are out rattling collecting cans in supermarkets and shopping centres and the public for their generosity.
“I am chuffed. Every one of our branches are up,” she said.
“But we couldn’t have done it without our volunteers and the citizens of Bradford. You cannot beat the citizens of Bradford when raising money for the Poppy Appeal. They are the most generous people.”
