A BINGLEY dog walker was left with a fractured skull after a man jumped out of a van and punched him in the face.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after the incident, and police are now appealing for people who came to the aid of the victim after the assault to come forward.
The incident happened at 9.30pm on Sunday, January 4 when a 57-year-old man was walking his dog along Park Road. A white van pulled up close to the zebra crossing at the junction of Charles Street, and a man then got out of the van, approached the victim and punched him in the face.
He then got back into the van and drove towards Bingley Town Centre.
The victim was treated for a fracture to his skull and broken nose.
A 41-year-old man from Bingley was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Ryan Bragg, of Bradford District CID, said: "We believe that there were two females and a male who came to the assistance of the victim and we would like them to come forward.
"We would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen this assault, or anyone who saw a white transit-type van driving down Park Road in the time leading up to, or minutes after it."
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC 3623 Siddons at Bradford District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
