A WARNING about strong winds across Bradford today has been issued by the Met Office.

The yellow alert will be in place until 8pm tonight and is followed, tomorrow through until Saturday lunchtime, with a snow and ice warning.

Strong southwesterly winds are forecast to reach gale force at times after noon today.

A spokesman said: "Gusts of 60 to 70 mph are expected in places, perhaps a little higher over western coasts and high ground. Heavy rain will accompany the high winds in some areas, with snow affecting some higher level routes.

"The public should be aware of the risk of disruption to transport and possibly to power supplies, as well as generally difficult driving conditions."
