THE TRIAL of three home carers accused of fleecing a wealthy housebound widow was expected to resume today after one of the jurors fell and hit his head.
The case, in its second week at Bradford Crown Court, did not sit yesterday after a member of the jury had been taken to casualty.
Wendy Bell, 57, of Greenside Lane, Cullingworth, her daughter, Lisa Bell, 30, also of Greenside Lane, and Helen Banks, 42, of Howbeck Avenue, Riddlesden, deny conspiracy to defraud Audrey Hammond, between February 14, 2010, and September 25, 2012. Wendy Bell pleads not guilty to two further fraud allegations.
Four women have already pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud Mrs Hammond, 92, of Cracoe, near Skipton.
The prosecution alleges that Mrs Hammond, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, was defrauded out of more than £500,000.
