A DEDICATED Bradford man has not had a day off sick from either work or school in nearly 30 years.
Marshall Sharp, 38, of Oakhall Park, Thornton, works as site manager at Dixons Trinity Academy, Dixons Music Primary and Dixons McMillan in Trinity Road, Bradford. His enviable record stretches back to 1986 and takes him through his time at Leaventhorpe Middle School and Rhodesway Upper School.
He then left school in 1994 to work for Slingsby’s engineering company as an apprentice and then a fully-qualified electrician.
Mr Sharp left this job in March last year to take on his current role.
Since 1986, he has only had three authorised days off when his father, also called Marshall, died in December 2009.
His story was first featured in the Telegraph & Argus in March 1993 when his record had got to seven years without missing a day off school.
He said: “It’s personal pride. It’s in myself not to miss days. I don’t like to let anybody down. You’ve got to battle through your day if you get ill. I make sure I get in for work. I can also say I have never been late for school or work either. I’m quite proud of the achievement.”
