TWO of five beloved dogs stolen from a family farm last week have been reunited with their delighted owners, thanks to a Telegraph & Argus appeal.
Three Jack Russells and two miniature Schnauzer, all bitches, were taken from Upper Bradshaw Farm, Denholme, after raiders smashed down three doors to get into their purpose-built kennel block.
Kennel Club assured breeder Gemma Clay told how she and her seven-year-old daughter Isabel were horrified by the night-time thefts – especially as one dog, Bella is on the brink of giving birth.
Sadly she is one of the three pets still missing, but grey miniature schnauzer Matilda and little Jack Russell Tiny are now safely back home, thanks to a sharp-eyed dog-walker in Queensbury.
“It’s brilliant they’re back, thanks to someone having recognising them from the T&A,” Mrs Clay said, Sheet metal worker Darren Wilkinson was walking his dalmatian called Weller when he noticed the two small dogs loose in Fleet Lane, Queensbury.
“I took my dog to my mum’s house round the corner and then went back for them,” Mr Wilkinson said.
“She’d seen the article in the Telegraph & Argus and so I went onto the website to check it was the right dogs before phoning the owners at the farm,” he said.
Mrs Clay said she was overjoyed by the call at about 9pm on Sunday night.
“It was brilliant news. When my husband brought them home they went crackers at being back with mummy and daddy,” Mrs Clay said.
