PEOPLE living in the Spen Valley can have their say on plans to change local library services at a meeting this month.
Kirklees Council’s chief librarian Carol Stump will give a presentation on library and information services, outline the budget proposals and explain how people can get involved in the consultation on library services, which starts on January 19.
The role and activities of friends of libraries groups will also be described, with information on how people can be involved. There will then be an update from Rachael Loftus, the chief service officer, on the Cities of Service programme and Comoodle project.
The Cities of Service programme is looking at how volunteers can play a role in helping solve local issues and the Comoodle project involves piloting and developing new ways to enable the community to share and request support, equipment and space from the public sector.
Chairman Batley and Spen District Committee Councillor Simon Alvy said: “Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting.”
Batley and Spen District Committee meets at 7pm in Batley Town Hall on Tuesday, January 20.
