Former Lord Mayor Arnold Lightowler and his wife Joyce
THE last chairman of the former Baildon Urban District Council, which was disbanded in the 1974 local government reorganisation, has died.
Arnold Lightowler, 92, was also involved in Bradford City Council, which was formed at the same time, before his retirement from public life in 1984.
He served as Lord Mayor and was also deputy leader of Bradford Council.
Mr Lightowler was a widower, following the death of his wife Joyce last year, shortly after their platinum wedding.
