MANY relatives of heart attack victims in the Yorkshire region are left living in fear as a result of the episode, new research reveals.
A survey by the British Heart Foundation shows that 30 per cent of relatives of those affected by a heart attack said they lived in constant fear of a loved one suffering a repeated attack, with 16 per cent saying they felt trapped by the after effects.
More than half are left upset and 50 per cent of those questioned said they felt angry about the experience, with 14 per cent of people having to give up work or reduce their hours in order to care for a victim.
The statistics have been released as BHF launches its Wear it. Beat it. fundraising campaign to raise cash for research which should help to save lives in future.
BHF statistics show there are more than 215,000 people in this region with coronary heart disease, which leads to heart attacks.
The fund raising campaign is part of BHF’s Heart Month, which takes place in February, and they are hoping for support from community fundraisers
