POLICE are investigating a crash between a lorry and pedestrian which left a young woman in hospital.
The collision happened in Ingleby Road at around 4pm this evening and police closed the road for around two and a half hours while paramedics gave first aid and took the casualty, understood to be a teenager, to hospital.
Police collision investigators also examined the vehicle as they started an inquiry.
The injured woman was taken to Leeds General Infirmary but no indication of her condition was available tonight.
A worker at a nearby shop said: "It appears someone was trying to cross the road when they were hit by the lorry.
"The police have been looking at the lorry, it had come to a stop at a strange angle."
Staff said roads in the area had become increasingly busy in recent times as more businesses had started trading in the area.
