A new season of silent films at Bradford Cathedral – with live organ improvisation by Jonathan Eyre – starts next Friday with the Wizard of Oz.. This is not the one starring Judy Garland
In this earlier version Dorothy, really Princess Dorothea and heir to the Oz throne, must get her kingdom back from the wicked Prime Minister Kruek with the help of three farmhands. This classic film features Dorothy Dwan as Dorothy with Oliver Hardy (of Laurel & Hardy fame) as the Tin Man.
The season continues on February 13 with Wings (1927); The Black Pirate (1926) on March 13; and The Rat (1925). on May 8 - appropriately the day after the General Election The season then closes on June 12 with a Summer Slapstick triple bill.
Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. Tickets are £8 with refreshments served after the film.
