A MAN and woman were taken to hospital after a faulty electrical box caught fire in their Shipley flat early yesterday.
Firefighters from Shipley and Bradford were called to out out the blaze at Beamsley House in Bradford Road at about 1.15am.
A faulty electrical circuit board, located within a storage cupboard, caught fire, and four people in the flat were awoken when their smoke alarms went off.
They had all escaped the building by the time fire crews arrived, with two of the four taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment for smoke inhalation.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Fire Service said: "The smoke alarms had been fitted by the fire service, and this incident again shows how important they are.
"Anyone who still needs them should contact their local fire service.
"They definitely saved these people's lives."
