DETECTIVES investigating a murder that was thought to have links to Bradford have launched a fresh appeal for information.
Craig Wilcox was last seen on January 6 last year, at the home of relatives in Failsworth, near Manchester.
His body was found on February 24 at Dovestones Reservoir, a beauty spot in Saddleworth, near Oldham.
An investigation established Craig, 28, had confided in a friend to say he feared for his safety and, last May police revealed there had been reported sightings of Craig in Bradford before his death.
Now, detectives have traced Craig’s phone from the night of January 6 and established it was at the reservoir at about 10.10pm. It was traced travelling back towards Manchester at 10.30pm.
Six men aged between 25 and 52 have been arrested in connection with Craig’s death, but detectives continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Terry Crompton, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "It is unclear why Craig was at Dovestones that night, we know he had no mode of transport and had no reason to be there."
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 9283 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
