THE post-Christmas period can be a stressful time, especially if you are a student returning to university and exams.
To help keep away the January blues, the University of Bradford’s cycling hub has this week been offering de-stress sessions in the union building.
Students could take a break from their exams by riding a “smoothie bike,” which uses pedal power to create a fruit smoothie. They were then treated to a neck and shoulder massage.
Those taking part were also encouraged to fill out a New Year’s resolution on a postcard that will be mailed to them later in the month, hopefully providing a healthy reminder to keep on track.
Jennie O’Hara, of the cycle hub and University Union, said: “January is a bit of a stressful time. We wanted to let people know that exercise and healthy eating can reduce stress levels.
“People would make the resolution to walk or cycle more, and we will send it back out to them in a couple of weeks.
“We’ve had lots of people getting involved.”
