A GUEST performance will highlight the new season of free organ recitals at Bradford Cathedral.
Dr Gordon Stewart will perform as the new series of the Wednesday @ 1 lunchtime organ recitals starts next Wednesday. Dr Stewart was the conductor on last year’s BBC Songs of Praise programmes recorded at Bradford Cathedral.
He also worked for 15 years in Manchester and then Blackburn cathedrals, and has been borough organist of Kirklees for more than 20 years. He was senior organ tutor at the Royal Northern College of Music and is now one of the organ teachers at Cambridge University. Alexander Woodrow, Bradford Cathedral’s director of music, said: “I am delighted that Gordon is opening the season of organ recitals and look forward to welcoming him back to Bradford. “This season sees visiting recitalists from Edinburgh to Oxford and all points between, and from as far afield as New Zealand and Denmark - a truly international season.”
A buffet lunch, priced £3, will be available from 12.30pm. For details, call Bradford Cathedral on 01274 777720.
