POLICE officers confronted an unexpected problem in Cullingworth after checking a site to ensure it was not being used by off-road bikers.

The officers were visiting the old Flappit Quarry last Sunday to make their check.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “A group of sheep had entered from nearby farm land and were heading towards Halifax Road. This presented a risk to motorists, so officers herded the sheep across back onto the farm land.”
