SENIOR councillors are being asked to approve the principles of an improvement to a heavily congested junction in Greengates, Bradford.
The executive will discuss the £6.8 million project for the Harrogate Road and New Line junction, which is being partly funded by the £1 billion West Yorkshire Plus Transport Fund.
The project is designed to ease traffic flow, improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists and prepare the area for new housing developments.
Just under £2 million has been secured from Miller Homes through a section 106 legal agreement as part of planning permission for a housing development at Simpsons Green.
Executive Members will be asked to approve the principles of the scheme and give authority to Mike Cowlam, the strategic director for regeneration and culture, to progress the scheme and any compulsory purchase orders necessary for the extra land required.
The meeting takes place at City Hall on Tuesday, January 13, from 10.30am.
