A GROUP of five students from a Bradford school have raised almost £300 for charity.
The quintet of students – Shujaat Ali, Alina Zafar Shah, Joshie Barua, Ben Rowe and Katrina Thirkill – from Oasis Academy Lister Park organised a variety of fundraising events to raise money for Afasic, a charity that provides support for parents, and helps children and young people with speech, language, and communication difficulties.
The fundraising sessions, all organised by Shujaat, Alina, Joshie, Ben and Katrina, included a tea and coffee afternoon for staff and parents, a car washing session, a book sale, a film afternoon for students, and a sponsored walk.
A spokesman for the North Avenue school said: “They managed to raise a fantastic £297.82 for Afasic.
“The students really enjoyed themselves. Organising and running these events helped them to practise and improve their social and communication skills.”
