POLICE have warned Ilkley residents to keep their homes locked after a series of opportunist thefts.
Inspector Sue Sanderson said there had been four house burglaries in the town in December, two of which involved a burglar sneaking through an unlocked door to steal property.
She reminded residents to keep external doors locked, even when at home.
An arrest has been made in connection with one burglary.
A total of 34 crimes were reported in the town last month, said Insp Sanderson.
