MORE than £2,000 was raised to help improve the life of a Keighley man fighting cancer.
Well-known local singers entertained at the New Variety Club event in aid of former nightclub manager ‘Pearly’ Bob Mitchell on Boxing Day.
The £2,265 will be used on adaptations to help Mr Mitchell (pictured) get out of his Bronte Drive home.Mr Mitchell and his wife Cath cannot afford the work themselves because they spent their savings on a stairlift and bedroom adaptations. Organiser Mick McGuinness said the acts included club singers Frank Farkas and John Driver and comedian Farrell Butler. He added: “There are about 200 people there. It was brilliant, everyone said they enjoyed themselves. There were people who came to see the acts but most of them were people who knew Bob.”
