YOUNG people from across the Bradford district will have the chance to go wild in the woods this Saturday as part of a new adventure programme.
Get Out More CIC, a social enterprise based in Keighley, is launching its forest school for youngsters aged ten to 15 at Northcliffe Woods in Shipley.
Director Annie Berrington also hopes to run the monthly scheme, put together based on feedback from young people who took part in a taster session last year, in Saltaire, Bingley, and Ilkley, as well as holding a forest school camp in the summer. “We found out young people have a taste for adventure, and are keen to learn new outdoor skills like campfire cooking and green woodworking,” she said.
“I have children in this age group myself, and know how important it is for young people to get active outdoors as an alternative to playing computer games and social networking.” Each session includes woodland games and activities like shelter-building and making waffles on a campfire. Places cost £15, to book, or for details, visit getoutmorecic.co.uk.
