A BINGLEY-BASED international publishing firm has raised £35,000 for its 2014 charity of the year, Heart Research UK.
Emerald Group Publishing produces specialised engineering and scientific journals and the money will go towards the charity’s Helping Little Hearts appeal, which aims to ensure nationwide excellence of care for children recovering from heart surgery.
Chairman of Emerald’s Charity Committee Emma Stevenson said: “After a year of fundraising events, including salary contributions, raffles, auctions and sporting competitions, we have surpassed all expectations by raising an impressive £35,000.
“Special thanks go to Emerald employees globally who have engaged with the charity throughout the year, enabling us to make a significant contribution to Heart Research UK.”
Barbara Harpham, the national director of Heart Research UK, said: “We’re overwhelmed by the support from Emerald over the past year.
“Their very generous fundraising efforts will support our Helping Little Hearts Appeal, providing personalised rehabilitation exercise toolkits for youngsters leaving hospital after heart surgery and treatment.”
Emerald selected Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) as its charity for 2015.
