A BRADFORD man is under investigation for money laundering and drugs offences after being caught up in a police operation.

Officers made a 'proactive' vehicle stop in Halifax on December 23 and found a 30-year-old man of the West Bowling area inside the vehicle.

He was found to be in possession of a knife deemed to be an offensive weapon and both Class A and Class B controlled drugs.

As a result of the stop, officers in the Bradford East Neighbourhood Policing Team assisted in the investigation and search the suspect's home address.

That resulted in them discovering a large quantity of cash.

The suspect was released on police bail to allow officers more time to carry out further inquiries.

A police spokesman responsible for the Little Horton ward said: “We are aware of the drug issues being reported to us by local residents in the Little Horton area and our officers are acting proactively to combat those issues and concerns.

"We will work closely with our neighbouring districts to ensure those dealing drugs do not benefit from their illegal activities.

"Drug dealers who cannot prove their financial gains face their assets being seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act, whether this be money, cars or their homes”.

Anyone with information about drugs or people living beyond their means can contact police direct on the 101 number or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
