A MAN is appealing after planners refused to let him repair a broken chimney on a Saltaire shop by reducing its height.
Applicant Mohammed Gulbahar had applied for listed building consent for the repair to The Butterfly Rooms in Bingley Road, a Grade II listed building within the World Heritage Site.
His agent said water was leaking through the chimney stack and if left unfixed, it “could collapse, potentially causing injury or death”.
But planners turned it down, saying the changes would harm the “special interest of the listed building”.
