A WOMAN who lost her cat nearly a year ago was reunited with her pet thanks to a Cross Roads-based charity.
Yorkshire Cat Rescue brought Buie and his owner Claire Rutherford back together in time for Christmas.
Buie disappeared from his Leeds home in February. Claire reported him missing to the company that registered his microchip, but was unaware Buie had already been taken in by a lady living just over a mile away.
The woman who adopted Buie died of cancer last month. When Yorkshire Cat Rescue found the cat it discovered Buie’s microchip owner details did not match the lady who had died. The charity workers traced Claire via the company managing the chip’s database.
She said: “I was heartbroken when we lost Buie and couldn’t believe it when Yorkshire Cat Rescue called and told me he was alive. I can’t thank Yorkshire Cat Rescue enough.”
