AN INJURED man left marooned on an island in the lake at Bradford’s Peel Park had to be rescued in a fire service operation.
It was unclear tonight how the injured man ended up on the island, but emergency services were alerted at 6.25pm and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service mounted a full operation involving two fire crews from the Bradford station and specialist water rescue crews from Bingley, Brighouse and Leeds.
They found the casualty still on the island at the park, in Peel Park View, with what appeared to be a broken arm.
Water rescue specialists reached the man and were able to return him safely from the island and hand him over to Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedics, who took over his medical care.
A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said it was unclear how the man had ended up on the island.
