A TALENTED musician caught with 52 small packages of cannabis hidden under his jacket was today advised by magistrates to listen to his mother and quit using the drug.
David Sparkes, 19, was an accomplished motorcycle rider with a promising career making music videos, Bradford and Keighley magistrates heard.
Police arrested him at his home in Sandfield Road, Thorpe Edge, Bradford, after he had bought three months' supply of cannabis in bulk to get it more cheaply, the court was told.
Sparkes pleaded guilty to possession of 58 grams of cannabis on September 29.
The court heard he had no previous convictions and his mother disapproved of his cannabis habit.
He did not intend to sell any of the drug packages, they were all for his own use.
Sparkes was sentenced to a 12 month conditional discharge with £100 costs.
Magistrates advised him to heed his mother and give up smoking cannabis.
