A MAN caught with a small amount of cannabis told magistrates his New Year resolution was to give up the illegal drug.
Simon Robinson, 32, of Dunsford Avenue, Bierley, Bradford, was sentenced to a 12 month conditional discharge and £100 costs today.
He pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and attempting to possess cannabis, both on May 13.
Bradford and Keighley magistrates heard that police found cannabis at Robinson's home and saw him trying to hide a pencil case that he believed had contained more of the Class B drug.
He found it under a tree near his home and it turned out to be amphetamine, prosecutor Charles MacRae said.
The Crown accepted that Robinson did not know what it was and was not selling drugs.
