A PARLIAMENTARY candidate has waded into a row about whether a report into Bradford's education system should be published in full.
The authority paid respected academic Professor David Woods almost £3,000 to write a report on the district's education improvement systems.
But it refused to publish the full report of his findings, instead releasing a five-page summary.
The full document was later leaked to the T&A, and showed that Prof Woods had called a key education board, chaired by Council leader Councillor David Green, "too big and unwieldy to be effective".
Now Bradford South’s UKIP candidate Jason Smith has called on the Council to release the report in full.
Mr Smith, UKIP's Bradford chairman, said: "This report should be made public as it is clearly in the public interest as it affects our children’s education and future.
"The report was commissioned by the authority, so it was effectively funded by Bradford’s Council taxpayers, so to me there can be no justification of hiding its findings from the public.
"On behalf of my constituents I demand Bradford Council release this report in full immediately."
Cllr Green said there was no intention to hide anything and that the published summary was an "accurate reflection of the full report".
He said: "The full report was circulated to representatives of all political groups ahead of the overview and scrutiny meeting on December 16, where there was a full discussion at this public meeting."
