THE circumstances behind the death of a stranded motorist who was hit by a car in snow on Boxing Day are still being investigated, police said last night.
Graham Maloney, 75, died after he was struck by a Vauxhall Astra in Baldwin Lane, Clayton, Bradford, at about 9pm. He and his wife Molly were returning home to Clayton from a family party in Thornton when the tragedy happened.
Mr Maloney was hit after his own car got stuck in snow and he got out to investigate. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by paramedics, despite attempts by passers-by to save him.
The Vauxhall driver, who was also believed to have family with him, was described by witnesses as being "devastated".
A police spokesman said: "Nobody has been arrested and inquiries are ongoing".
Witnesses or anyone with information about the collision can contact the West Yorkshire force's Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101.
