A PLEA has been issued for people to keep an eye on elderly and vulnerable neighbours during the winter.
The message from North Yorkshire County Council and the NHS comes as health and social care services face unprecedented demand.
“More people are using hospital services which is also leading to a bigger call on care services in the community,” said a spokesman.
“As a consequence we are prioritising essential care – particularly supporting people who are being admitted to or discharged from hospital or who need to be safeguarded because they are at risk in the community.
“If you think someone needs help, encourage them to seek it or do so on their behalf.”
