A MOTORIST who died after being hit by a car in snow on a rural road on Boxing Day was today named locally as 75-year-old Graham Maloney, of Clayton, Bradford.
It has now emerged Mr Maloney, who was with his wife at the time, had been driving slowly along Baldwin Lane towards Clayton in a Peugeot 206 when it got stuck against the kerb while rounding a tight right-hand bend in heavy snow.
He got out to swap seats with his wife intending to try to push the car free when he was struck from behind by a Vauxhall Astra at about 9pm, said neighbour and friend Chris Fairbrother.
The force of the impact pushed the Peugeot into a stone wall and Mr Maloney was dragged down the road by the Astra.
He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by paramedics.
Police have urged witnesses or anyone with information about the tragedy to contact the West Yorkshire force's Major Collision Enquiry Team via 101.
