PLAYERS in a junior football team are re-uniting 15 years on for a match to raise funds in memory of a former team-mate.
Members of Bolton Woods' Under-15s team will be lacing up the boots together again to face a side representing Oddfellows Arms, Harrogate Road.
One of the former Bolton Woods players, Martin Bennett, 30, had the idea for the reunion match after seeing a picture of the original squad line-up, taken in 1999, on a social media website.
He made contact with his original team-mates which led to the clash taking place.
All funds raised will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care, also in memory of player Adam Trice's father Graham, who died of throat cancer in April this year, aged 60.
One of the Bolton Woods players from the 1999 match, Mark Duce, died aged 17 in 2000. He will be remembered on the day with a minute's silence before the match.
Mark's sister Emma will also take to the field and play in the match.
His family will be presented with his son's shirt complete with his name and original shirt number, 11, before the game.
Adam Trice said: "When the lads get back together it's like we have never been apart. I see a few of them quite often as I still live in Bolton Woods.
"It will be a poignant day for me, remembering my dad and Mark. I knew Mark since we played together in the Bolton Woods under nines team."
Mr Bennett said: "I made contact with everyone and they were all very excited by the idea of meeting up.
"I thought it would be fantastic if we could get the same kit or shirt numbers and members that were in the original photo and that's what we have done.
"We all lost touch with each other. It will be great to have the lads back together again. It will be a strange day to be playing football together though.
"Hopefully we can raise as much money as we can for charity.
"It's going to be a special day and a great occasion."
Chris Duffy, the squad's original manager, will be reprising his role for the reunion clash.
He said: "It will be a great day and will bring back plenty of memories.
"The squad were together for a few years and won a couple of cups as well."
"One of our players, Adam Trice, lost his dad Graham to cancer in April this year."
The match will take place at Bolton Woods Football Club, Powell Road, Bradford on Saturday, January 31, with a noon kick-off. To make a donation, go to justgiving.com/Martin-Bennett5.
