A CARE home has been told it must make urgent improvements or face enforcement action after being rated as inadequate by a watchdog.
Inspectors from The Care Quality Commission (CQC) made an unannounced inspection of Hollycroft Care Home in Hebers Ghyll Drive, Ilkley, and found the home was failing to provide care which was safe, effective, caring, responsive or well led.
On the date of the inspection - October 28, 2014 - 15 people were living at the home.
Inspectors found the home without a registered manager and some incidents of abuse were not properly reported and investigated. Inspectors found one person had their medicines administered covertly.
Debbie Westhead, deputy chief inspector of adult social care in the North said: “Care provided at Hollycroft Care Home fell a long way short of what we expect services to provide.
“While we did see some caring interactions between staff and people living in the home, and that in some ways people were well supported, the safety issues we identified needed urgent attention."
A spokesman for Four Seasons Health Care, which owns the home, said: "We are sorry that the care at Hollycroft Care Home fell below the standards that we expect all of our care homes to provide.
"We have accepted the CQC’s requirements and recommendations and we are implementing a comprehensive improvement. This includes more rigorous monitoring to ensure our processes and procedures to support quality of care are strictly followed."
