MEMBERS of a new group called Dementia Friendly Keighley have drawn up a constitution and opened a bank account.
Management committee member Jan Smithies said the organisation’s next move would involve carrying out fundraising and staging a meeting early next year to expand its membership.
“We want to find out what people think the organisation should be doing and what particular needs they would like to see met,” she added.
“A few of us are running dementia awareness sessions – I’ll be leading the next session in Bracken Bank in January.
“We’re in the process of developing membership forms and we’d definitely like more people to join us.”
She said that people interested in becoming involved can get in touch with the group via Helen at the Keighley Healthy Living Project.
The group has been set up to make the town a more accessible and welcoming place for people who have dementia and their carers.
