A BINGLEY man charged with a string of shoplifting offences will spend Christmas behind bars after being remanded in custody.
James John Richardson, 28, appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with 22 counts of theft from a shop as well as taking a motor vehicle without consent, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and using threatening words or behaviour.
The vehicle charges relate to an alleged incident in Skipton on November 24, and the theft charges relate to businesses in Keighley and Bingley. Among the businesses Richardson is accused of stealing from are Peacocks, TK Maxx, Co-Op, Boots and Argos, and items on the charge sheet range from meat to fragrances.
He was remanded until next Monday for the Crown Prosecution Service to review the case.
