A CASH pot of more than £80 million to tackle potholes across West Yorkshire has been welcomed by local highways chiefs.

Councils across West Yorkshire clubbed together to bid for the Government cash - part of a £6 billion road maintenance fund for England, running from 2015 to 2021.

Councillor Peter Box, chairman of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, welcomed the money, but said it was a shame maintenance budgets had been cut to help pay.

Bradford’s share is about £32m.
