PEOPLE getting quad bikes for Christmas have been warned not to use them illegally as two men almost had their early Christmas presents seized.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police’s “Quad squad” were on patrol in Buttershaw when they saw fresh quad tracks on a grassed area on Buttershaw Drive.
They soon found the culprits, two men covered with fresh mud riding muddy quad bikes. They were questioned and admitted riding on the grass. They both received warnings under the Police Reform Act which last 12 months. They told officers the quads were early Christmas presents.
PC Joey Boswell said: “The two lads were dealt with proportionately under the circumstances. If you are getting a quad or off-road bike for Christmas, please get to know the law with regards to where to ride them. If you are caught using them illegally you risk losing it and may cost a lot of money to retrieve it.”
